I don't really get it either. If somebody has even a casual interest in something and just wants to pop in and have fun with it, why do I care? It's not like there's a finite amount of fun that can be had with a particular show, game, book, movie, or band, and we need to carefully ration it out so nobody uses it up...

(And I prefer using "neckbeards" to "mouth-breathers," because unlike breathing through your mouth, which is often done out of medical necessity, having a neckbeard is almost always done out of laziness, and is a very easy problem to fix.)

100% agreed re: mouth-breathers and neckbeards. I say "neckbeards" a lot too, but I don't like using "mouth-breathers" as an insult because I've seen people say they have to breathe through their mouth, or it's way more comfortable for them, for medical reasons (like you said) and they get made fun of for it. =/
