Totally OT: My SO has been a professional tattoo artist for 20-odd years, and he caught some of that show and wow, did he hate it. He and my daughter sat in his Lair and watched and heckled and ripped the 'artists' and their work to shreds.

And then he was all 'i have to watch the finale. BOOOOORG!' He was assimilated.

I laughed my head off when he came upstairs and was all 'i've been watching that horrible tattoo show'. I just mocked him mercilessly.

Oh, and I've been meaning to ask someone who knows anything about tattoos -- do most tattoo artists actually refer to themselves as "tattooers"? Because that grated on my ear every time they said it.

Not any of the ones i know. They call themselves tattoo artists (because the are). 'Tattooers' is something a client might say, or a newb tattooist who is really not an artist at all.

Since some companies think it's awesome to sell 'tattoo kits' online, there has been a huge influx of extremely untalented, poorly trained (or untrained) people scaring up other people for fifty bucks in their kitchen.
