(Anonymous) 2007-08-23 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)I don't think...it's as random as people like to say it is? As people have said, it's a sign that someone is a virgin. And I'll admit that I think Kouga Yun made this sign manifest as catears because, well, it's cute. But I do think it serves a purpose, and a lot of that has to do with the fact that catears are, well, silly.
And imagine having something so silly announcing to the world that you haven't been laid yet. After a certain age it must become mortifying...as is seen with a few characters like Shinonome-sensei, where her ears become an excuse for people to treat her less seriously even though she is a physical adult. In that sense, I think it becomes a bit of a psychological thing that's symbolized with the ears.
...and, again, it's cute. So what? At least give us fans that, eh? A lot of creators have silly things like that that they add to their works...Kouga Yun at least had the foresight to come up with a reason for having it, y'know? :D I happen to like Loveless for a lot of reasons, and the cat ears is definitely one of them.
Just my tl;dr thoughts!

(Anonymous) 2007-08-23 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)Also, why are people so focused on the cat ears? When I saw the secret I assumed the wank would all be about the shota (it's the reason I can't tell anyone I know that I read it at least). Never suspected people would complain about cat ears in the one series that actually explains why they are there.
