Would you use it to help people out or would you hide it? Been thinking this for a while now and I feel like while I do want to help people out, sometimes I just can't be bothered which is pretty shitty..

I think it depends on the power? Some superpowers would be easier to use to help people, and probably less likely to freak people out than others. Although honestly, being a superhero is cool in concept but would probably suck balls in reality, lol.

Hide it. I might help people on the side, but only if I could do it without getting caught.

Both. I'd help people on the sly but I wouldn't come out and admit to the world it was me.

What if people were afraid of me, or wanted to experiment on me, or wouldn't leave me alone, or blamed me for everything that goes wrong?

Help people secretly is the way to go.

If I had my choice of powers, I'd be a telekinetic who manipulates oxygen (think Magneto but different element). Think of all the things you could play with! Now think of how you could manipulate people by manipulating their oxygen intakes... I don't want the world knowing I know how to do that. That'd be just asking for trouble.

Probably hide. I'm a huge wuss and I don't want people relying on me for things.

The self aggrandisation and attention would merely be a pleasant bonus.

I'd use it for my own benefits (and possibly for close friends) and hide it otherwise.

Depends on why my power is. If I can abuse it so long as no one knows it exists (telepathy, for example), then I'd hide it unless I had pressing reasons not to (someone going on in loving detail about how they'd murder someone else, for example). If it's fairly useless, like, say, being able to manipulate sugar, then I probably wouldn't hide it.

I don't think I'd ever seek out crime fighting as shown in the comic books, though. I don't like vigilantism in real life because I think it's a terrible idea.

Martian Manhunter's telepathy is both very powerful and very extensive; but, interestingly enough, he prefers NOT to read suspects' minds.

It would depend; what kind of super power is it? Is it actually something that can be helpful? In what capacity? Are there others with superpowers, or am I the only one? What are the downsides to this superpower? How likely is it that people will find out it's me?

If I'm being entirely honest, I'd do the following in order:

1) Freak out

2) Approach my vicar, probably offer proof because would e required

3) Do what I'm told whilst I percolate

4) Make my own moral judgements

Depends on the power and what it could be used for. I wouldn't help people by putting on a costume and roaming the city fighting crime.

Depends on the super power mostly. Though I have a feeling if I came out with my powers, I'd end up being a super villain.

What if people don't want my help?

That'd basically be me. Regardless of the power.

Depends on the power. Some make it easy to help people with; others, I'd probably use for personal gain, like shapeshifting. By 'personal gain' I mean 'being someone else.'

Help people, for sure...though I definitely might start having guilt issues with not helping as much as I think I "should"

Help people while hiding it. I'd wager super heroes have alternative identities for a reason.

Do we have a hivemind, OP? because I was seriously just thinking about this earlier today. And I'd probably hide it. Mostly because being the center any sort of attention is major dnw for me. Unless the superpower came with a package deal with self-confidence...

Hiding it would depend entirely on my power set, how resilient I would be to injury and how easy it would be for me to get away from anyone trying to detain me. I wouldn't help anyone though, it would be far more likely for me to be a selfish third party or a super villain.

Depends if my powers were useful to other people at all, tbh. Like, I'd love to have powers of teleportation to get myself to and from work/school in a snap. I could only go and fetch milk or printer ink from the store, if I can only take inanimate objects and not people.

I'd try to help people as much as I could, because maybe I'd be able to do a lot more than I can right now. I always feel hideously guilty and depressed when I can't help someone or devote, like, all my time to giving someone a hand.

I wouldn't be a superhero, though, because I would probably be terrible at it.

Makes me wonder what kind of superpowers I'd have, though.
