36 band is clearly too small. And a bra where the cups are too big, is clearly too big, and your mom is full of crap. But you can appease her and stuff or you can buy a bra that fits -- possibly going online to get it.

I don't get what I'm doing wrong. I get 39 inches around my ribs just below my breasts, and around the boobs I get 42. Mind you, I'm not wearing my bra right now but if my bra is all stretched out is that going to make a difference anyway? By the calculator, the difference is 4 inches, and that makes me a D, which lmao, no way.

I think I could get away with wearing a B, but I just wish that they acknowledged that people that big can also be almost flat. :( Clothing makers make me so mad!

Ah, I subtracted wrong. Still, I'm not a C either.

I've found that the only way to get a bra that fits is to try a heck of a lot of them on.

By the fitting math I should be a 48DDD, I'm actually a 42/44D in my preferred brand. While I can't for the life of me figure out how the difference in band size works out I do know why the cup size is so far off. Not all if the difference between my under bust and full bust measurements is from breasts, even if you count what gets scooped into the cups from under the arm. I have fat on my back too after all.

That said, if you didn't lean forward and scoop your breasts into the cups on that 38B you might want to try it on again.

I wish I could remember the brand, if they even still make it, that had cup sizes "almost A" and "nearly B". It sounds like a 38 nearly B might be just want you want.

Playtex has off-sized cups, though I can't recall whether I've ever actually seen in any offered in RL stores.

D isn't a uniform size. A 32 D cup will be different from a 40 D cup. You might actually be a D for your band size?
