Re: Question for People with Periods

I think it's really interesting in this thread that mainly people seem to really hate tampons. Honestly before F!S also I had never even heard of a menstrual cup. They sound kind of awesome but also kind of nervous-making for it maybe getting stuck inside of you.

I feel like sex education during my formative years was awful. I never learned how to put on a condom either.

Anyway I like tampons. Pads make me feel like I'm wearing a diaper and they itch and I pretty much hate them. I was terrified learning how to put in a tampon the first time though. I had to do it in like seventh grade because I was the only girl who was having to walk during required swimming because I had my period but didn't know how to use tampons.

Middle school required swimming gym classes should not be allowed for the sake of the pride of thirteen year old girls.

Menstrual cups have a sort of tail thing at the end so that you can pull them out if nothing else works, but really all you have to do is push you fingers up and pinch the cup to break the seal. While the horror stories are scary, I've used mine successfully for years without having it get caught. But I defiitely realize they're not for everyone.

A cup definitely takes a bit of adjustment while you get used to it, and they're not for everyone, but I've been using mine for a year and a half and I've never had any issues. I'd actually never heard of one getting stuck before this thread (which, yeah, would be totally horrifying and I feel bad for anyone who's had that experience D:), so I don't think it's super common?

"Middle school required swimming gym classes"

I didn't know this was a thing. I think I would have played hooky for all those classes D:

Yeah, like the first anon, I've never had problems breaking the seal on my cups. You can pull the tail or pinch the longer more rigid cups, and with softer hoopskirt shaped cups, you just hook your finger under the rim and give it a tug. In fact, the only issue I've ever had is getting a perfect seal/finding the right size. I'm, uh, kinda small. I love disposable Softcups but they don't stay put quite as well as I'd like, they're just the tiniest bit too large.

However, I do recommend them if you want to try cups but don't want to spring for a reusable one. Insertion is quite similar to a tampon, and there's instructions on their box and an informative video on their website. At least with hoopskirt shaped cups, I believe it's just supposed to just rest against your pubic bone and create a barrier (you can allegedly wear Softcups during sex and many people swear by that but I never have), and it doesn't actually create any suction. AFAIK? Correct me please if I'm misinformed, f!s. Softcups are also good to keep in your bag(s) because I only have one Lunette and I keep it at home.
