Whoops, posted in the wrong spot:

I definitely agree. I mean, I love Helen Parr and Eleanor to pieces, but I really appreciate Dory for having a lot of unique facets for a female character. Eleanor is defined by mother, Helen by wife and mother, but Dory is just a friend. She's just unique as far as most female characters go. And while Merida is an okay character, I don't particularly like her, and I feel Pixar could have done way better.
