Re: FIRST
The Nighttime Wanderers: A weirdly interesting night drive that proves that sometimes, the journey is more important than the destination.
While my mother is in Port Dickson on a course while my father is visiting her for the day, Me, my sister whom I will call Kaklong, and her friend whom I will call K, were debating on how to spend the night. I wanted to eat alone at the Secret Recepie, but my sister decided on the three of us having dinner and a movie (the Life of Pi)
So as I was waiting for my sister and her friend to get themselves ready for the trip, she told me that the Life of Pi has already finished running at cinemas and that we were going to watch the Hobbit instead. Seeing that I've never watched The Hobbit before, I agreed.
But when we finally got ourselves on the road. It dawned on us.
Three youngsters.
In a car.
No parents.
In holiday season.
It's 8:30 pm.
Where do we go?
What can we do?
"Let's go to the 24 hour Big Bad Wolf Sale at the Mines Resort City!"
"Oh, and where do we like to eat?"
So we ditched the movie idea and started talking about restaurant options. Finally we settled on a place inside an upscale supermarket in a local shopping mall. BUT WAIT! What's this? Why, not only does this upscale grocery sell international goods, but they are selling goods that my sister has eaten while on a Uni course in England!
So the whole Big Bad Wolf Sale went by the wayside as we three went on a late night shopping spree buying up all the goods that we have eaten abroad. Only after finishing our purchases do we remember our final destination. To the book sale!
But wait! Kaklong doesn't know which way the Sale is held! Luckily her friend K has a smartphone app that shows the way as well as warn us of speed cameras and traffic jams by user input (note: must download for mom and dad).
While along the way, the three of us talked about a lot of things, and suddenly, I realized that... I really missed talking to my sister, whom I've hadn't seen for a while due to her studying in England. We talked, we laughed, and we lost our way to the Sale and end up in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur instead. Whoops.
After we realized our mistake, we decided to just drive around the city and see the sights while trying to find another way out. We talked, we laughed, and we found ourselves on the way to the Book Sale again! Unfortunately, it turns out that the Book Sale was only 24 hours on weekends. There were a couple of other people at the entrance to the building housing the book sale asking "is there another way to get inside" and they were as disappointed as we were when we heard the security guard saying that the building is now closed.
But I don't regret it. Why? Because I had the best time of the week with my sister and her friend.
...
Wow that was long.
