(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 01:32 am (UTC)(link)On the other hand, at least some hints would be nice. Y'know, even if it's never declared or even acknowledged by the characters, having it there... etc.
I don't think it would be a cliche - if they handled it right, and anyway because the cliche is a man and a woman, which this.. obviously wouldn't be.
Eh. I like that romance isn't the focus of the show (I love that about it, actually), but given the choice between "no romance" and "vague gay romance" I'll choose the latter, every time.
(Then again, I could just be bitter as a gay gal who gets no representation, ever, and is a bit... weary of people calling for "oh no don't ruin it with romance" pretty much only when someone suggests making a slash pairing canon and never when, say, het romance is what's on the table. I'm not saying that's what you're doing, but a LOT of people do it and it just.. irritates the hell out of me.)

I just want neither Reese and Finch to be in that situation.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-21 01:55 am (UTC)(link)Hmm, I think maybe it depends on where you hang out? In my experience I mostly hear the opposite tbh, usually from people who are dog tired of having every male/female friendship on tv covered in UST that eventually results in them getting together (after like 5 seasons) and having a trainwreck of a relationship and they want more gay relationships to shake things up and get some diversity in the relationships on their shows (of course, I mostly hang out in the femslash and slash areas of fandom so this is to be expected I suppose)
As another lesbian, I definitely agree that more representation would be awesome though. But in this case I just honestly don't think it would work out, at least not in a...functional way (no matter how hard I ship them)
