Well, he just had a sucky dead-end job where people kinda ignored him, and kept taking his stapler. But it's more 'Dilbert'-type annoyance than anything that bad, IIRC. At the end he sets the place on fire, doesn't have to be at the job any more, and gets to chill on an island (although the way he complains about the fruit in his drink implies that maybe one of the reasons some people didn't like him was just that he was a pain in the ass.)

It's more than Dilbert-type annoyance - they move his desk down to the dark-ass basement, ask him to hunt rats down there, and fire him without telling him.

OTOH, this is also a movie where the entire set up is the main character gets accidentally hypnotized into not giving a shit. I mean, obviously Milton is treated terribly, but it's not exactly a realistic world (and the people treating him that way are the bad guys...)

Dilbert-verse has gotten up to some pretty wacky shit as well. But back to the point, if that happened to me, and I burned down the place and got 300k, I'd consider it somewhere between square and me coming out on the better end. But it's a matter of opinion, so I suppose views will differ.

If that's true, then that makes sense, but the OP definitely didn't seem to be referring to "Dilbert-type annoyance".

That would be a pretty happy ending for Dilbert, wouldn't it? ;)
