I always felt that way about assigning genders to robots but for some reason, that one's always clearly stated...

I suppose it's easier to identify gender through voice than it is to identify race.

I agree with you on the gender for robots thing, personally, though. Although it would seem there's a huge shipping faction for those guys. (don't ask me how the mechanics of it work - I don't know I think that I don't want to.)

Simon Furman hates female-identified robots and makes sure to have all his machine-aliens be male-coded so no pesky genders get in the way
