You mean a relationship with a man unable to make an actual facial expression?

How do you know? Maybe there's something about her podcasts that mentions creepy, plastic-faced people, and I'm making an esoteric, very witty, inside joke that you just don't have the sophistication to get.

Or... um, being ironic?

*hangs head* There is no excuse. I am ashamed.

*pats head* it's okay.

You know, I like you. I don't share the hate others feel for you, even if I disagree with some of your opinions. I think generally you are a nice person, and hope you don't let the mean ones out there chase you away or keep you down.

Oh, well, thanks. I'm sure you're very nice as well (and are an excellent judge of character, obviously ;)) And don't worry, If there's one thing I learned about the internet, it's that some people are just nuts and you can't do much about that.

Ah go on , share it. Like you said, somebody has to.

I did podfic for one of my own fics, too. It was mostly for practice, since I want to get into podficcing, but it was fun anyway. If only the idea of sharing it weren't so terrifying...

(Anonymous) 2012-12-22 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too OP. Partly for practice, but then I realized I'm not confident enough to seriously podfic writers I admire. So I just keep doing it for fun and to edit/pick.

But you know, if you're in a small fandom maybe it wouldn't be so daunting to post your podfic, and there might be more appreciation?

Not secret related, but damn I love my Sennheiser headphones.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-22 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
If you're not sharing them because you think no one cares, you should. When I'm looking for some interesting podfic to listen to I will try anything I know the source of. Otherwise, this actually sounds like a pretty good way to get perspective on your own writing!

(Anonymous) 2012-12-22 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I constantly think about doing this, because my fandom is tiny, too. Also think about doing it for another fic, but I haven't actually tried because the author disappeared.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-23 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
Pity that liking our own work has to be so secretive. I'm not into podfic but I secretly reread my own work a lot. I'm in a small fandom too, so I doubt I'd do it as much if there was a lot of satisfying fic out there about my OTP...but there's not, so I enjoy the fics I've made.

Given that it's a small fandom, I would hope that your podcasts would be well-received. Plus if you post them, other people might approach you to make podfics of their work. Either way, no shame in having enough respect for your work to read it aloud. Keep at it, anon!

I know of several podficcers in the Supernatural fandom do their own workd. A lot of the bignamed ones do in fact. nothing wrong with doing so.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-23 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think there's anything wrong with podficcing your own fic. I suppose everyone has their opinions about that sort of thing, but I don't see anything wrong with it.

People who do care are kind of nitpicking, IMO, and their opinion wouldn't have much weight to me anyway. Who are they? The podfic police?

I'm not 100% sure what podficcing is...nobody does it in my main fandom(s) I don't think.

At any rate... It is like...an audiobook right? Of your fic?

I prefer audiobooks read by the author of the book... (like Tina Fey's Bossypants), so I don't see why it wouldn't work just as well to have you read your own fic. I mean... That way it gets read EXACTLY as you intended it to be read.

I reread my own fics all the time, sometimes aloud to myself to see how I think it sounds. I have a voice that grates on my own nerves so I'd never do a podfic thing but if you have a nice voice why not?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-23 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Share them! Small fandoms need more material!
