Is X-men FC really considered THAT bad? It's not as though OP picked 'Transformers 2'

Thing is, Transformers 2 never tries to be something it is not. It knows it's a cheesyfest with bad writing and bad acting. It's practically proud of that.

X-Men: FC...doesn't do that.

It's just so... blah. I mean, take Twilight, for instance. It's horrible, but it's got this Twue Wuv thing to it that it does well, provided you're into that thing. Take Ichi the Killer. It's gross and disturbing seems to be the go-to that every pretentious douche uses to say "I'm edgy and artsy all in one!" But it does that well. Take 300. It's stupid as shit. But it does the over the top stupid fighting and crazy spectacle very well, so again, if you like that sort of thing, it could very well be your favorite.

What does X-men FC do well?

I go back and forth on it so much. I like Charles and Erik's performances a lot. I love that multi-lingual characters actually speak in other languages to each other with subtitles. I don't like Charles and Raven's relationship and the handwaving of Mystique's age. There's too many side characters in the "first class" for all of them to get adequate character development, but the training montage is pretty cool. The bad mutant is ok, January Jones is AWFUL, Wolverine's cameo is hilarious. The FBI chick is mostly useless, the romance is shoehorned in, and midewiping sucks. And yet it's solid superhero movie. I'd rewatch it more than Thor (ugh, Kenneth Branagh should not direct anything action movies) or Iron Man 2 (pales in comparison to its predecessor but worth it for RDJ having fun).
