I always tell people I don't play favorites with the Doctor, but if I'm honest with myself, Nine is my favorite. He was so traumatized and fragile and in pain and yet so hopeful and cautiously optimistic in his pain in that weird gruff way of his, like he was trying to seem tougher than he really was to pre-emptively protect himself from disappointment, and trying to force himself to adopt all the typical coping mechanisms of miserable lonely old soldiers, but just being really fucking terrible at it because he was essentially such a deceptively soft-hearted guy who enjoyed being happy so much, despite being a tad batshit insane. And he was the incarnation I was watching when I fell in love with the Doctor in general.

And he has the best smile ever.

That's such a great description of Nine, and yes, he does have the best smile ever.
