It's concept art from character designers. Have you ever looked at that stuff? It's often doesn't look a thing like the final character style wise.

Many Sami people have pale eyes and fairer hair and technically I think this movie was in planning before Tangled, as long as that movie took to make itself.

A lot of that art is much earlier art, though, and the art in the secret was much more recently released. The design could change drastically before the release date, but given that they've got roughly a year, I doubt it.

This movie was canceled, Tangled came out, and then it was completely rebooted because the studio had confidence again due to Tangled's success.

In response to concept art, I'm just going to copy/paste something I wrote on tumblr. Sorry for potential tl;dr.

Frozen comes out in less than a year. Character designs are going to be pretty much finalized by this point. Full on animation has commenced. Unless they released a really old piece of concept art to the media outlets (really doubtful, they’re going to want people to get a sense of what it will actually look like at this point), what we’re seeing here is at least decently close to what’s going to be the final character designs.

To put it into perspective, Disney released their first promotional ‘concept art’ image for Tangled in December 2009 (and it came out November of the next year, just like this movie will). Concept art had been leaked before (just like with Frozen), and Disney doesn’t shut that down because it’s good promotion, but this is the first BIG IMAGE they released to media outlets.



There are definitely differences between this and the final product. You can see it in Rapunzel’s face and dress especially, but on the whole? It’s pretty close to the same.

Also here is a Princess and the Frog ‘teaser trailer’ that Disney released almost a year and a half before the film came out, and the designs are almost 100% what they are in the final product.

Basically by now that probably IS quite close to how Anna and Kristoff will look. Hopefully there is enough variance as to where they don’t look as much like Rapunzel (and Flynn to a lesser degree), but it’s doubtful that it will be very far off from what we’re seeing here.
