OP here

Woohoo, I'm glad there are people on here who like these games too!

Ace Attorney was one of the first video games I ever played all the way through, then I beat GT in three days, and I'm still on 999....butImayhavereadtheentirewikiandknowwhat happens.

They are the trifecta of the video game industry, IMO.

Maybe I should make a LJ account...

Still OP here

Also I really like that this is secret number 9.

I mean, in Ghost Trick you save nine lives, in Ace Attorney the magatama looks like a 9, and there are 9 Feys/spirit mediums (Mia, Maya, Pearl, Misty, Morgan, Ami, Dahlia, Iris, Bikini), and in 999...well...

...Whoever you are, OP, I think I want to be in your fandom just because you think like I do. Mmmm, numbers...

I have a problem where I NEED to find patterns in things. Especially fiction, because in fiction patterns are usually intentional. Ace Attorney has become something of a problem because there are dozens of characters/plotlines/etc.

Hell, I've gotten to the point where I've found a boatload of evidence for Apollo being related to everyone's favorite psychopath from JFA...
pantswarrior: Gumshoe looks like he's plotting something. (mischievous)

Yeah, I'm all about finding patterns myself. And intrigued by your theory. Because the "Gant is Apollo's father" never held up even a little for me.

Re: Still OP here

(Anonymous) 2012-12-23 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Well this is based on similar types of evidence, but it basically boils down to "Matt is Apollo's foster brother."

Hey, that's cool! I'd always considered 4 to be GT's number because of the death-related meaning in Japan (and it's the reason behind the 4 minutes time limit), but all these 9s are very interesting!

Hey, OP! You should definitely make an LJ or DW account (I prefer DW, since LJ-based fandom for these games seems even deader than its DW counterpart); the more fans the merrier, right?

And if you liked those three games, there's definitely others you should try! The World Ends With You is great (also about ghosts), Trace Memory (also also about ghosts) is my favorite game ever (though most people preferred its slightly more popular cousin, Hotel Dusk: Room 215), and Elite Beat Agents (about... dancing secret agents) is still the best rhythm game I've ever played. If you like RPGs you should try the Rune Factory series (I prefer 3, others prefer 2; most agree 1 is the weakest in the series) or Dragon Quest IX, and if you like your games, bizarrely, unrepentantly weird Flower, Sun, and Rain is your game. The DS never gets the credit it deserves, but its an absolute goldmine of nontraditional games!

...And wow okay you didn't even ask for any of this I'm sorry. I just love discussing the DS, and this secret was the perfect outlet for all my emotions about these series. >_

That's fine! I love hearing about new stuff! The only problem is I'm not very good at traditional video games (I made the AC secret on post 2179), and I don't have a lot of money to spend on video games (AA were all gifts except one, GT I bought cheap on my iPod, and 999 I'm playing on an emulator).

Oh, yeah, I didn't think about that. Hmmm... AFAIK, Dragon Quest, TWEWY, and the Rune Factory series are all pretty overpriced for used games. If you live in the US, though, I think the others are pretty cheap; Trace Memory and Flower Sun Rain are both five dollars used at Gamestop, and Elite Beat Agents was four last time I checked. Trace Memory is a puzzle game similar to 999 and Elite Beat Agents is a pretty basic rhythm game. The gameplay of FSR, though, is entirely focused on solving mathematical puzzles, so unless you really like math and keeping track of random facts I probably couldn't recommend that one to you based on gameplay. XD

Not to say you should feel obligated to try any of these series out or anything! I just never get a chance to discuss these games normally. XD

Thank you for the recs! :)

I'll throw in one of my favorites, too: Radiant Historia. It appears to be out of print at the moment, but if you can get a hold of it then I very much advise you to do so! It's an RPG that involves traveling through in multiple timelines to save the future. I really like the way it's set up, and I'd have no reservations recommending it to someone who likes Ghost Trick and The World Ends With You. If you've played FF XIII-2, the concepts are somewhat similar, although I think Radiant Historia handled it better. It's one of my top games. ^_^

I've heard of Radiant Historia! It sounds amazing- I almost bought it when it was new, but then I went, "Nah, the price'll go way down in a few months anyway." TERRIBLE decision. >_< I'll definitely make sure to keep an eye out for it, though! I hadn't realized it involved time travel, and that's something that really intrigues me. Thanks for the rec!

If you do make a LJ/DW account, drop me a line. I'm always up to discuss some of my favorite games. ;)
