It's better than still being carded.

I'm in my mid-30s. The lady at the movie box office assumed I was still a student, and further assumed that my younger sister was my aunt.

I has a smug.

I started going silver haired in my very early 20's. When you are not looking, I am going to steal your "youth."

I've known enough people who have gone either bald (my dad, for example) in their early 20's or else silver/white in their 30's or younger to not associate those things as strongly with age as I do other features. You probably don't look as "old" as you think...

Also, I think silver hair can look really, really cool.

I got my first gray (silver!) hair in high school. In the olden days, I would be prematurely aged. In the current days, I dye my hair wacky colors. In my case anyway, the silver hair holds the color extremely well. And I scoff mercilessly when people fret over finding gray hairs.

Hahaha. I'm in my mid-30s too, and got carded for a 16+ event at a con this last year. I was like "I could go to this panel twice!"

And a few months before that, I had someone check my ID and do a really obvious double-take... and then when I was in the hospital a couple weeks ago, I said something about how I hadn't had general anesthesia since I was 11, so I was really nervous, and the nurse asked how old I was - then looked at my bracelet before I could answer and exclaimed "I thought you were like 18!"

I credit being a vegetarian, personally. The vegans I've known for 20 years haven't visibly aged at all either.

This happens to me all the time.

"Oh, are you a freshman [at the university]?"
"Actually, I'm a second year grad student. Thank you, though."

I get that occasionally, though even younger -_-

"So what school do you go to?"
"Actually, I've graduated." (meaning college)
"Oh! Which college do you go to?"

A few years ago I attended a small Nanowrimo meet-up where I knew no one. We met at a local Starbucks on a Saturday night... and every single person there for the meet-up was still in high school, except for me. I was 25. They wanted to know what high school I went to and I had to explain that I was in graduate school.

Echoing pantswarrior - I get "You look 18!" a lot, and I'm 22. A couple years ago I got 16 once or twice.

I actually blame the fact that my acne is waaay worse now than it was at any point when I was in high school. :x

Last time I was in a restaurant, the woman who was attended our table thought I was underage (I'm 23). I'm starting teaching in september, chances are my students will think I'm one of them.

I'm 37 and I've gotten carded a few times this past year. I was actually kind of disconcerted (yes, every time). Of course, later, thinking about it made me smile.

I'm twenty-six, and I've been mistaken for a 17-18-year-old (asked if I was about to finish the HSC, which is the end-of-school exams here) three times in the past six months. And once, soon after I turned twenty-one, I was given a child train ticket (which is for fifteen and under).

I suspect good genes, though. My Mum is in her early fifties and looks mid-forties, tops, and my grandmother looked like she was in her sixties when she had just hit eighty.

I loooooove being carded. The only bad time I had with being carded, was when the lady said, "Oh, I didn't think you were that old." :/
