MLP FiM Fandom, I need your help!

(Anonymous) 2012-12-27 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I'm seeing this guy who shares a lot of fandom interests with me, but even though he says he isn't a Brony, he likes the art style of FiM.

What I want to do is sit down with him and watch a couple of episodes, but I want to know in your opinions, what would be the best ones to watch with a guy? He's dorky and socially reclusive like me, so I don't think he'll have a problem watching any particularly girly episodes, but I want to start him on a few stronger episodes to see if he'll take to the series first before going all marathon on him.

Any suggestions?

Suited for Success, Green Isn't Your Colour, The Last Roundup. IMO, they're strong episodes. I'd stay away from two-parters and Cutie Mark Crusader episodes, if he's never watched before.

How about the Super Cider Squeezy Machine episode? There are so many good songs in that. He might also enjoy the Nightmare Night one.

Nightmare Night (Actually called Luna Eclipsed) relies on background, but Super Cider Squeezy is a good choice.

I'd also reccomend MMMystery on the Friendship Express and Over a Barrel

I was introduced to MLP by a guy and some of his favourite episodes are Sonic Rainboom, Bridle Gossip and Read it and Weep.

The season opening and ending were my favorites (the ones with Nightmare Moon, Discord, the wedding, the Crystal Empire; and this season's ending seems to be one of these too! :D), but it would be disingenuous to use those as examples; the rest of the series is more episodic and relaxed.

I would say show him the first two episodes, since they introduce the premise of the series, the characters and the setting rather nicely, but with the warning that most of the rest of the series is more about a "lesson of the week".

Dorky and socially reclusive doesn't negate being a macho dudebro. Just saying.

(Not trying to say that this guy necessarily is one. Just that your reasoning doesn't make a lot of sense to me.)
