I was trying to explain that normally I can let this slide, but after seeing this event in the news, I needed to vent. Less judging, more like trying to understand and failing.

Sadly, I don't live here in the comment boxes, so I haven't seen this subject or incident discusses. I just needed to vent. If you're tired of discussing it, move on and let others have a chance instead of coming in and shutting it down cause you've discussed it with other people.

Oh please. This has been hashed over and over and over and over again in many, many more places than this comm. We aren't talking about FJ seeing this thread here a *couple* of times.

And not judging, just trying to understand and failing =/= making sarcastic biting comments.

You "let" people who write/read rape fic "slide"? Thanks, that doesn't sound condescending at all. And if you can find a rape fic that portrays the victim being violently assaulted to the point of requiring extreme medical intervention AND having an unwanted physical enjoyment of the act link it. There are many different kinds of rape and sexual assaults and *gasp* some people use fiction to cope with their own traumas and some people have issues that mean they get something out of reading these.

Judge away but don't play this bullshit "I'm not judging you -- just telling you that you're a horrible human being for reading/writing fiction that deals with real life issues and perhaps even daring to enjoy it!"

What kind of discussion do you even want? Not everyone is going to agree with you and yeah, most people like FJ are just going to roll their eyes at your obvious I'm so superior wank baiting.

Oh, see, I did not get that at all. When I saw your post all I could think was, "Not again." Because I can tell you how all of the conversations go, the general ratio of people on each side, and the arguments that will be made. I could probably even tell you what users are on what side.

Which is why I said what did. Also, it has such a potential for wank there wouldn't be much room for learning, if that is what you really want. There will be mostly defensiveness and name-calling. It's not that this has been done once before but it has been done many times before. It's like the wheel that keeps on turning and shitting on everyone and no one goes home happy.

On the other hand, I'm not the mod. I can't actually shut anything down. I have no power here. I'm not responding to any of the people arguing for this or that. I'm not engaging anyone except those who respond to me. F!S is all about conversation right? Well, this is the kind of conversation you're getting from me. I'm not stopping you from talking to the other people here. You don't have to talk to me if you don't want to. I was just stating "Oh my gosh, this has to be a troll because it really hits all the right notes. It's practically perfect." Think of it as a learning experience. Now you know it's a "hot topic" here and you have the ability to be a good troll here if you want.

But just to be clear, I don't agree with you but I also don't disagree with you. I don't have a side unless, "Oh gosh why won't this stop" is a side.

So you weren't trying to learn? Were you ranting? Or shaming people? Or trying to get people's reasoning for liking things? There are a lot of different reasons here that you're stating and a few conflict. Because if you really just wanted to learn, being so hostile about it isn't going to put people in a sharing mood.

The whole thing sounded like a fantastic troll, I'm not going to lie. Which is another reason I said what I did. Trolls are here for wank, nothing more. (Well, maybe laughter. But this doesn't really fall under laughter.) And while some wank can be interesting, this one isn't. Do I still think you're a troll? I'm not really sure. It's still hard to tell.
