I've known some awful fucking children (usually made that way by their own parents' negligence long before corporal punishment would ever have been necessary). But people seem way too eager to do things to very small and vulnerable human beings that they wouldn't even do to their dogs. Possibly because the dog has bigger teeth...but then, if you've never seen a child bite or kick the hell out of an adult trying to hit them first, you haven't lived. Are children allowed to use self-defense against people causing them pain? That's an interesting conundrum.

I don't think that's a conundrum at all. The last time I was "spanked" I remember being really upset by it and I was probably 10 or 12. In my teens, if a fight got so heated that I thought (irrationally, but it was somewhat born of fear, I think, plus also me being a kind of aggressive/territorial person by nature) that they might try to lay a hand on me, I remember thinking that I would hit them back and I'd absolutely defend myself.

I wasn't actually spanked all that much. But if a kid it hit often enough to be THAT afraid, that they're actually trying to physically defend themselves from their PARENTS, then that is seriously. fucked. up.
