OP:

I think I'm just late to the party. I should have made this secret a few years ago when Twilight was more relevant. I remember going to Twilight message boards where fans were complaining about how awful Jessica was for getting mad at Bella for practically ditching her for the guys with motorcycles. It was implied that Jessica started hanging out with Lauren more after that incident which meant she was a bitch because Lauren hated Bella. Then in Eclipse, when Jessica tried to makes amends with Bella at graduation, that just showed how ~fake~ she truly was. Of course, these were the same people who called Mike a stalker because he couldn't get over his feelings for Bella.

As for haters, I saw a lot of them hating on Jessica for wanting to be friends with Bella at all. Maybe the criticism aimed at Twilight characters has changed and I'm just not aware of it anymore. It always seemed like only Rosalie and Leah got a pass because they unabashedly disliked Bella and disagreed with her choices.
