No offense, but this is a lazy ass argument, since:

- great Monotheisms (and also the legacy of classical culture) shaped Medieval mentality and culture. You know, the one he aims to portray

- the Chruch was a force to be reckoned with in Medieval politics.Nothing in his books is comparable to it

-the choice of replacing complex systems of belief with cartoonish stuff about sexy priestesses and shadows monster really makes his approach look lazy and sensationalistic.

Again, it's fine if people enjoy it, but please, don't try to act like this dude is a rigorous scholar of the Medieval world. It's not like he's Umberto Eco ( who knows his stuff AND can write entertaining plots)
