I AGREE.

I love Sophie and Dobby, but some of the stuff they do to women in this show is borderline uncomfortable to me (the "lol male rape" storyline comes to mind).

Basically one of Mark's girlfriends (who is an athletic, "butch" type) rapes him and it's played for laughs.

(DA) At least it's actually acknowledged as rape though (a rarity in TV when it's female on male rape) and the word "rape" is used to describe it. Jeremy tries to convince Mark that he was raped, it's Mark who is in denial about it.

Well, I mean, I think a lifetime of platonic male companionship probably would be best for them; they're clearly not really suited for fulfilling romantic relationships with women. But I haven't seen any evidence that either one of them is gay. They could be together without fucking each other and we've seen no evidence that they want to fuck each other and it would be, to me, something more interesting and in some ways rarer to have a fulfilling, long-term, stable, non-sexual relationship.

Just my 2c.

Personally, I think there's a fair amount of evidence that Jeremy would be up for sex with Mark, at least. He's certainly up for sex with men in general. A variety of quotes off the top of my head:

Jeremy: (thinking about the impending canal holiday with Mark) (Maybe the pressure will build to the point where we actually try to fuck each other.)

Jeremy: (kissing Mark during Spin the Bottle) (At least it's Mark. ...oh, Jesus, it's Mark!)

Sophie: I've only slept with four men. Is that enough?
Jeremy: Four? Oh... yeah. (Jesus, I've had sex with more men than that and I basically only sleep with women.)

Jeremy: Mark, if I have to fuck you to fuck her, then I will.

Jeremy: (after drugging Mark unconscious) (It's all right. It's not like I'm going to rape him. ...I could rape him. ...I'm not going to rape him.)

Jeremy: (mockingly) 'She could be the one'?
Mark: Fuck off, Jeremy.
Jeremy: (I'm his one.)

And then there's the time they're locked in a building together and Jeremy immediately leaps to asking 'If you had to, would you have sex with me?'

That doesn't preclude a lifetime of platonic male companionship, of course; I just think a sexual relationship wouldn't be baseless. It wouldn't be healthy, but it's not at all implausible. (I do, however, find it difficult to imagine that any sort of relationship between Jeremy and Mark could be described as 'fulfilling' or 'stable'.)

(Sorry for rambling at you, by the way! Jeremy/Mark appears to be my slightly unfortunate OTP.)

To add to Rionaleonhart's excellent list of evidence, in the last episode of series 8, Mark suggests that Jeremy should 'have a couple of gay flings' and Jeremy doesn't really object to the idea! And Mark had that crush on Alan Johnson...

I completely agree with this secret! (although I did like Sophie and missed her in season 8)

There's not really a fandom, but I got awesome Peep Show fic for Yuletide: Rescuing Mark.
