Unluckily, LiveJournal is not obliging tonight, so no links--sorry.

It was great wank, too--someone (I think this was at bakebakebake, but it could've been cooking or food_porn) posted pictures of the French baguettes she had just made, with the recipe...and this other poster went off on this rant about how the OP should not call what she had baked French bread, because it had one or two additional ingredients besides flour, water, yeast, salt and cornmeal, and in France it is illegal, apparently, for a product labeled "bread" to contain anything else. And the wank went on for upwards of a hundred comments.

The icing wank wasn't at a cooking community at all, it was at hp_britglish, in September 2007--but I can't get that either, so here's the otf-wank post, it's the best I can do.

What a disappointment! I finally accessed hp-britglish, found the icing wank...and the wanker had deleted all of her comments, all about how butter cream frosting (of course, they call it icing) was un-British, "vile gunk" and besides, no one who had experienced WWII rationing would "waste butter and sugar" on a cake. And half a dozen people said "ummm...I'm British, and we ice cakes with butter cream all the time"...and the wanker went on insisting "No, you don't."
