Lacroix is still one of the best vampires ever. I loved how he never really softened up. Or turned into one of those, "I must atone for what I've done." He was a vampire, dammit, and he looked so good being one.

Mine was the 90s miniseries Ultraviolet. Nothing's ever come close since, and certainly not these vampire romance things.

LaCroix will always be the best vampire! Loved the Nightcrawler! (of course, Nigel Bennett's voice is pretty much to die for.) And I loved Janette, Nick, Nat and Schanke, and pretty much everyone else.

Forever Knight was also the first show that I ever owned on DVD (after my tapes were completely worn out :p). I even had to import them from the US, because you couldn't get them anywhere near me for the longest time (and they never showed the third season in my country at all, which is a damn shame, because it has some of the best episodes!).

Oh, the memories! I wish I had more time, so that I could re-watch the entire show...

NGL, that's one of my favorites, despite the cheesiness, the shitty rocks-fall ending, and season 3's casting disappointments.

But I still love some vampire shows. Just not so much the ones that are basically all about the romance. For example, I really liked Blood Ties for much of the same reason I liked Forever Knight. It's primarily a police procedural with supernatural elements, there is some UST romance, and the characters are interesting and fun. The two main differences are there's a love triangle (where oddly enough the human guy isn't punted out of the park by the vampire and sometimes the two actually grudgingly work together). And there's no Lecroix, but that's mainly because there doesn't need to be one. Unlike Knight, Henry doesn't particularly angst about his condition, and he's not above being pretty creepy when it suits him.

I loved how Nick didn't fit a lot of the physical tropes of being a vampire (he had curly blond hair for starters) and Natalie had plenty of meat on her bones.

For me, it's still Moonlight.

And I'm actually grateful for that, because I was still in my pissy 'If I can't have more Mick St. John I don't want ANY vampires SO THERE' phase when my sister gave me Twilight for Christmas. I thanked her politely, put it on the shelf, and never looked at it again. (I like to think I would have had enough taste not to get sucked into that series anyway, but you never know...)

Loved and miss that show. When I see any of the actors from it on other things (when I figure out why they look familiar to me) it's always "Oh, that's right! He/she was on Forever Knight!". I might recall something else they were in after that but the default is FK first. :D
