Uh, as opposed to every other fictional character in existance?

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
I think the OP means it's not likely that we'll ever see Orlando in a long blonde wig ever again, whereas for other characters, they don't have to do much to alter the appearance of the actor.

So there's no need for that tone. :P

Actually, there are two more hobbit videos coming out, so if that's what OP meant, she's kinda wrong.

Ooh, and the DVDs will probably have some extras.

videos?! are you still living in the 90s?!

Eh, why not?

I love Legolas but he wouldn't be my first choice...

I'd love to go to Hobbiton one day, though. (Before anyone tells me it isn't a real place, this is what I mean. http://www.hobbitontours.com/ )

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 05:28 am (UTC)(link)
Hell yes, go. New Zealand is unbelievably gorgeous, and all the LOTR sites are worth hitting if you can.

Ugh, I know. Seeing it in LOTR made me long to go there because it is so insanely beautiful. If I could live anywhere, it'd be a nice cozy hobbit hole in the shire!

If I ever get the chance, you bet I'll go!

Have you went? :)

I wonder if he'll still be as attractive, being ten years older. Elves aren't supposed to age, but human actors do...

Orlando Bloom, like Keanu Reeves & Robert Downey Jr, is immortal.

Ehm, I don't think making him look younger will be an issue. They aged down Ian McKellen quite a lot, too. It's movie magic!

[personal profile] adlanth 2012-12-31 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but a lot of McKellen's face is hidden under a lot of hair/prosthetics. Plus he was 63 and now he's (an admittedly sprightly) 73 so I don't think he's changed that much anyway. I thought that Cate Blanchett and Elijah Wood on the other hand looked noticeably different - but maybe that's just me.

Different, perhaps, but not old. Frodo still looked young to me, and Cate, imho, looked quite a lot younger there than in r/l.

(Anonymous) 2012-12-31 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
When LOTR first came out, Legolas/Orlando was my everything. Seeing The Hobbit (anticipating him coming into the story eventually) & re-watching the trilogy brought back that flood of feelings. He's not my #1 of anything ever anymore, but he's sure as hell in my top 5.

Same here. I thought I'd grow out of my Legolas fangirlishness, but apparently not. That said, these days, I'm much more of a Faramir fangirl than anything.
