Different commenter, but to me, "Cannot wait until the hype dies back down." reads as "Cannot wait until people stop being happy about something I don't care for."

Which yeah, I think that's a bit jerky. Wanting other people to be less happy?

idk. I read it as "I find the hype kind of annoying." Not, "I don't like this thing so how dare other people like it and be happy!" Also, it's possible to take hype too far - take your love of something and express it in a really extreme way so that it annoys and puts off other people.

It makes me think of how I feel when my brother watches a football game. I'm happy for him that he has a hobby that makes him so happy, and I'm not wishing for him to stop liking football, but boy does it drive me up the wall when he sits in the living room and yells and hollers every thirty seconds.

I just really didn't read any ill will towards people into her comment at all - and certainly nothing that merited the kind of asshole comment she got.

/part of at least two fandoms people find really annoying in general; I understand that none of that means people want me to be "less happy" but that they wish some of the obnoxious idiots in my fandoms would stfu
