Some of them did apparently have a written record of themselves; there's a book called History of the Kings of Britain that's supposedly a translation from the ancient Welsh (aka one of the original British dialects), by one Geoffrey of Monmouth, of a history of, well, the kings of Britain pre-Roman invasion. By all accounts the book was somewhat messed up when it was translated, by which I mean that the book which was translated wasn't perfectly accurate, unsurprising considering the age of the purported original volume; but it's the only primary source I can think of that you might be able to get your hands on. Some scholars call it a medieval forgery, but there's sufficient evidence that this isn't true that said accusation can be reasonably safely discounted, though the accuracy of the account itself is of course questionable as with all ancient histories.

BRB, LOLing at the idea that Geoffy M was anywhere near reliable FOREVER.

Are you lol'ing because you think he invented it all out of his head, or at the idea that the book itself is accurate? Because the second is fair game, but the first is kinda ridiculous.
