Re: Animated Characters You Would Totally Screw if They Were Real? (possibly TMI)

(Anonymous) 2013-01-01 09:38 am (UTC)(link)
Several characters from Skyrim. Possibly I'd like to have a conversation with them first that doesn't consist of scripted ask-and-responses.

Possibly Pitch Black, from Rise of the Guardians, both because I love his character design and also I get the feeling he'd be such a glutton for pain, and such a snarky bottom. Be fun to break him.

Princess Luna. Again, love her aesthetic, but... she and Celestia are the only ones I can think of as being adult enough to consent, and Celestia always seems sort of... aloof? Above it all? Uninterested, maybe? I dunno. Luna seems like she'd be fun to hang out with, and enough of a willful spirit to try screwing something that's not even an herbivore, much less a quadruped.

Vlad Masters/Plasmius from Danny Phantom, for pretty much the same reasons as Pitch, plus it'd be fun to play around with ghost powers, emotional states, and exhaustion. Also possibly Skulker, assuming that his character design (or at least his armor's) is a tad less top-heavy to account for real-world physics. Also very tentatively the Phantom from the Bad Future (Dark Danny/Dark Phantom/whatshisface), although for the life of me I can't think of a way for that to be consensual or equal. He's just pretty. Also Clockwork. Maybe. I'm sorry, I have the character page open here and I keep scrolling down.

Shego from Kim Possible. I bet she has handcuffs.

Some of the Transformers, especially if "completely CG" counts as animated.

All five of the Guardians and Elyon from WITCH. It occurs to me that that sentence could be taken in a variety of ways, and I have decided I mean all of them. Also, less enthusiastically and more shallowly, the Oracle, Phobos, Cedric (interchangeably snakey or not). Nerissa... sort of, but like Dark Phantom, I can't really see it ending with funfluffyhappytimes for all.

That's probably enough; I could keep going but this is supposed to be conversation fodder. Please tell me other people don't think I'm completely nuts. *double-checks anon*

OMFG, yes. That was one of the things that really surprised me, the diversity in people and relationships. In "Gridlock" there were two old women who casually mention being married, and I remember being just gleeful, because SPACE LESBIANS.

I mean, that seems tame when the same episode has a human and a cat-alien marrying and having kitten babies, but can you imagine the outcry it would have produced from some people if a major American show had background married homosexual characters? But on Doctor Who, it ain't no thang. Just a couple of helpful space lesbians. :D (I really like saying "space lesbians," okay, don't judge me.)

Re: Trigger warning: illness and death

(Anonymous) 2013-01-01 10:17 am (UTC)(link)
I want to second this. Don't let fear of what might happen make a regret. I have very strong regrets from my youth where people I cared about died and I didn't make the efforts I should have to make better last memories. Just don't do it.

I understand not wanting to have him the way he is now potentially be your last memory of him. When my grandmother died, I refused to see her in her casket for the same reason. Just prepare yourself for how he's going to look before you arrive, and the sting may not be as bad. Also, it might help if you try to remember small things, like his smile when he sees you've come to visit him.

It might also not be so bad to talk to your family about what happened with your grandmother and if the worst happens, to give them a moment to make sure he's okay to be seen before you enter the room. There's nothing wrong with this. Just, please, OP, don't suffer from the regrets I've had to suffer from. My grandmother died almost 15 years ago and I still sometimes start crying uncontrollably when I remember that I blew off the last chance I had to give her a hug and tell her I love her and tell her what she means to me. Please, don't be me.

Thought provoking stuff but ow my head hurts now TOO MANY WORDS.

Every time I see discussions like these I just get more confused about what words I'm allowed and not allowed to say :P

Hot damn I'm in this one!

Idk WHAT about the theater brings out the death threats in people but DAYUM those theater fans are hardcore. Got to say out of all places that was the thread I would have assumed least likely to resort to threatening violence multiple times.

I'm imagining them carrying out all of their threats in tap shoes but that also may be because it's four AM.

Are you at all interested in trying to shift your view of how you look?

Yeah, one of the above might help you come to terms with your own body, and the other one will just give your brain extra processing venues to deal with what was said.

They are both good things.

You're only avoiding taking her to Lincoln because Lincoln itself is boring. I see your ploy!

(It's okay, I live in Lincoln. I think it's boring, too.)

But...he only showed up in a flash so far? You mean the web is populated by images of him? I wouldn't be surprised. My first thought was that his eyebrows are weird. And too thick perhaps.

Okay, that makes me actually want to watch it. *g* I'd planned to skip it because British depictions of the French Revolution usually just irritate me, but yesssss, if One is a Revolution fanboy then it sounds like they're getting the exact things right that I feared they'd get wrong. As in, whatever your personal opinions are on the subject, if you dump the Doctor in the middle of the Revolution and expect any reaction other than his eyes lighting up with glee, then cultural/historical animosity has clearly gotten in the way of good characterization.

As someone with similar hair I have to say I'm amazed how flat it used to lay under a wig cap. When I cut my hair I was actually worried I wouldn't be able to lay it as flat as before.

The secret is 1 hair tie and a million of bobby pins.

Ooh, ooh, we got a companion from my country once!

...And Tegan had such a strong accent compared to the BBC English that it took me a few episodes to realise that the actress really was from Brisbane and wasn't a Brit putting the accent on.

But yeah, Australia hasn't got much in the actual show. Plenty of comics and stories, a character or two here and there, but somewhat short on full TV stories set here...

- Get my Master's
- Focus on health and fitness
- Keep up with the Jar O' Happy (get a jar, write down on a slip of paper one happy thing from that day, every day, then on New Year's Eve 2013, you can look back at the best moments of your year)
