With interracial relationships in the U.S., I think it's more of a generational thing. I'm in my 30s and most of the people I know in my generation really don't make a big deal out of it. One of my sisters and most of my cousins are in interracial relationships or have been in the past. My nephew is mixed and the majority of my cousins have mixed children. Most of the people who make a big deal of it are in my parents' and grandparents' generation, and the majority of them are fairly conservative. There are definitely still people who are assholes about it, but you can see a definite difference in attitudes as you go down in age.
