Oh, now I'm curious what fandom that might be.

(Have joked for years about founding a comm called OFiF - Old Farts in Fandom.)

NAYRT, but Stargate fandom has a fair number of grandmoms from what I see. :) Perhaps because the main characters are not all youngsters themselves?

My first fandom, at like eleven, was SG-1 and then Due South. Back then it seemed like everyone was married with kids or at least in their thirties and I always felt like the kid tagging along to eavesdrop on the adult conversations instead of playing outside with the other kids (which I totally did in real life too) so years and years and dozens of fandoms later I continue to be surprised when I find out people in my new fandoms are in their twenties or even younger.

ETA: even here I continue to assume, after all the age threads that mostly show different, that everyone is older and wiser than me.

The Predator/AVP fandom has folks upwards of 55, some of them grandparents. :)

This week I've been having an email conversation about the Hobbit movie with a dear friend who is almost 70. She and my mother met via LOTR fandom in 1962.
