Understanding the cultural context and basis for problematic behavior is helpful, but handwaving problematic stuff as "different culture don't judge" doesn't help anyone and just lets entrenched problematic behavior perpetuate itself.
And since the secret is directed primarily at non-Japanese consumers of Japanese media, I don't see why talking about it on the internet is useless. I think the point OP was trying to make was about how non-Japanese anime fans believing that Japan is some sort of magical utopia of LGBT tolerance, and that belief blinding them to the cues in Japanese media that it isn't.

I feel like you're trying to say the same thing as the anon upthread, "it wasn't made for or about you so you don't get to criticize it," but more eloquently...
