I think most people out there talk about a lot of things - even the biggest geeks who only talk about fandom stuff still have multiple fandoms.

"now all they like is this", though?

imo, OP sounds pretty bitter about the show, so it's possible that they're picking up on every mention of Doctor Who and amplifying it. I kind of do the same thing with my friends when they go on about Homestuck; it's not the only thing they talk about, obviously, but sometimes it can feel like that's the only thing they like.

Yeah, but that would make a romantic relationship even less fun, right? Because now it'd be one partner going "But I don't even talk about Who that much!" and the other going "Yes you do!" and then, well, it'd be painful. Because one person isn't able to make passing mention of something they enjoy without it being a big deal, and the other can't stand hearing about it, so it is kind of a big deal. Unstoppable force/immovable object, etc.

Maybe. But think about real life, even your most obsessed friends talk about other things as well.

We're not talking about my friends, though, we're talking about the OP's crush, who they seem to believe only likes DW.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-02 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Then the OP either doesn't know the crush well enough or they are not compatible.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-02 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Which is my point.

I think the more important thing to focus on is the fact that, according to OP, they didn't have any shared interests before the crush started obsessing over DW, either.

It's always only been a pipe dream.
