google reverse image search not working in certain countries?

I've noticed that if I want to use Google's reverse image search function, I've got to take out the ".(my country)" after the ".com", or else the option (the little camera icon) simply doesn't show up.

Anyone know why this is so? It is... vaguely insulting? :/ I mean, at least I can access it at all, but still!

Why would that be *insulting*? It's not like google is throwing up a popup that screams "fuck you, you dirty foreigner!" Annoying, yes, but there's nothing saying an American-based (or other-country-based) company has to offer the same service to all other countries equally.

Because of the way google gets revenue from advertisers, they don't have the same capabilities for their products globally. They focus on the US because that's where they make most of their money and if you live in a country where they're earning less than 3% of their revenue from advertisers, maintenance and updates are a low priority for them.

It might have to do with that country's privacy laws, as those can differ regionally. But I'm not sure.

I'm not in the US and the option shows up just fine :/

Maybe it's only some countries?
