(Anonymous) 2013-01-02 02:35 am (UTC)(link)I know that LOTR was filled with a lot of wank, which isn't surprising since it's such a big fandom and has been around for so long and the book fandom mixing in with the movie fandom, it's bound to be filled with a lot of wank, but I guess I never really came across too much wank since I was in my happy little circle of friends and we didn't really go much outside our group.
The few fandoms I've been involved in have usually come with crazy ass wank and to know that LOTR is the winning fandom, that makes me realize why I'm not very active in fandom at all, especially now more than ever.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-02 02:43 am (UTC)(link)That makes sense. I'm kind of in a similar situation with SPN fandom and I've personally only had good experiences there. I know the crazy is there, but I stick to my own corner of fandom, so I've never actually encountered any of it first hand and everyone I've dealt with has been pretty awesome. LotR I was not so lucky for, though. Lol.
A lot of it really is all about experience, I guess.
