I have a LOTR-styled cloak that I've had for fifteen years this winter (pre-movies, so not movie-based, but still) and all that time I've worn it as my main winter coat/rain coat.

Once I left high school, I never even got a single comment from a stranger about it. ): Not even during the height of the Harry Potter craze! v. v. sad.

(on the other hand I have a Magic Hat that gets at least two cheerful comments a day whenever I wear it. I guess capes just aren't interesting enough?)
