Video games are the basis of the movie. You see characters but from what I remember, you rarely see the names of the games (maybe Street Fighter since they show the arcade game?).

The product placement however is unnecessary, jarring and really lame. Disney doesn't *need* ad money for this movie to be made so it's purely there to generate additional revenues. In live action movies, you can pretend that the brand is 'accidental' (even though it never is) because it makes sense in the environment. In this movie, my first thought was: "Wow, someone actually had to draw a Nesquick logo and make it 3D."

I find it pretty sad that people who buy this movie hoping to make their children happy will inadvertantly expose them to targeted ads. There's a reason multiple Western countries have laws which prevent marketing campaigns for candy/high fat/sugary foods from being targeted directly at children.

(sorry about the tldr but... yeah)
