Yay!!! :-D

I love seeing Show of Hands, but SK's solo gigs are even better

I've only listened to SoH a couple of times on Spotify (I only know about them because a local band covered Galway Farmer at an open mic night). I really like their music, and it's on my 'listen-to' list. (It has been for a while - it's a very long list.)

Anyway, good luck at the gig! It's so cool that you get to do stuff like that with/for people you admire. :D

Oh I hope you enjoy. I love them, and yes I am very lucky that the place where I volunteer occasionally gets folk gigs.

I don't know how the band you heard performed Galway Farmer, but I'm guesing it was the SoH version. If you like the song you might be interested in Steve's solo arrangement. It's much faster than the SoH version, and has no instrumental backing, just him singing and drumming his fingers on the mic to simulate the sound of hooves. It's well worth a listen if you get the chance-

I know what you mean about listen-to lists, mine is much the same. It's also taped in the back of my diary, so I've just had a reason to go through and reorder it. Thre are things on there that I can't even remember having heard of, but I obviously thought they were worth a listen at some point *g*

Yeah, it was the SoH version they covered. I ended up downloading the SoH version after not being able to find a Root Chords/Deportees recording, but now I've listened to the SoH version so much I can't really imagine any other version. The solo version sounds amazing, though - I will definitely check it out when I get the chance, it sounds right up my alley. Thanks for the rec! :)
