Art theft
(Anonymous) 2013-01-03 03:11 am (UTC)(link)I became doubtful and used Google Reverse Image Search on his drawings. Turns out, they are almost all lifted off Deviantart. Even cosplay photos he claims to be on are actually by female cosplayers from another continent. Even his CAT seems to have been taken from another website. I was annoyed and told friends. We confronted him. I played innocent and asked him if he had a Deviantart account, linking him to one original piece of art he had stolen and had the gall to crop to erase the watermark. He said no and basically implied I was being ridiculous and that he never said his drawings were his own (which he had, actually, five minutes before, when a friend of mine had asked him if he was the artist). I sent him another link, with a link to one of his tweets claiming a piece he had clearly stolen as his own. He blocked me.
I contemplated telling his followers who kiss the ground he walks on and who ask him to do drawings which he simply lifts from other artists that he is a scam. Apparently, his fake-death gambit was a ploy to scam money out of people to publish a comic. A comic based around an original character he has also stolen from someone else. But I'm also frustrated, because some drawings and pictures gave no result on Google and he could be the artist of a few and could be good if only he applied himself. And his behaviour could be the symptom of a disorder I don't and can't know about and I could trigger something without meaning to. I probably won't say anything more than I already did but I'm strangely ticked off and frustrated.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-03 03:29 am (UTC)(link)His behavior sounds similar to a guy's I knew in highschool, who ended up being diagnosed as a pathological liar. Even if this guy has a disorder, it's not your job to coddle him when he's clearly doing something wrong. Theft is theft and he needs to be held accountable for his actions.

in fact, last time art theft was brought up here, one of the mods volunteered her e-mail and time to talk it out:

seriously, these people have dealt with cases like this before, they have good ideas of how to deal with them
