...and here's the attitude the OP complained about.

but childings is right, though

Re: DA

it's true, though. there's a difference between being introverted and being a total shut-in who never has any sort of significant rl human interaction. the first one is just fine, the second is the sign of a larger problem.

Anon didn't say he was a NEET level shut in, though. That's just jumping to conclusion, which is what most people that OP complained about do.

da

anon literally said

"I'm a shut-in and a loser and happy and proud of it. Fuck off."

where was childings jumping to conclusions there?

A 'shut in' can be interpreted as either someone who NEVER comes out of their house, or a an introvert. Childing automatically assumed it was the former. That is 'jumping to conclusions'.

I don't see how you could interpret "shut in" as introvert. Tons of people are introverts but do not hole themselves up in their homes.

Except there is this thing called hyperbole and words having other meanings than literal definitions? Where I live 'shut in' is also used for people who, while they can [and sometimes do] choose to leave their homes, they prefer being there and spend the vast majority of their free time there.

yeah, but context. this thread is already touchy enough that hyperbole for basic definitions has no place here
