My interest was drifting a bit, but the series finale has sucked me in like never before. To me, none of the seasons have been as good as S1, but I think they gave us a fairly good sendoff with S5, at least with the eps that I mentioned above. Have fun catching up!

I liked the first two seasons the best. After that I just got more and more annoyed with the way the writers treated Morgana. I mean, I have no objections to her going down the dark side, but the way they just shoehorned her into it... she's obviously suffering, needs someone to talk to about magic, the dragon keeps referring to her as "the witch", Merlin just sits back and twiddles his thumbs... argh. I wish they had an episode about "destiny" and how much free will all of them really have in the scheme of things, and Merlin wondering if things may have happened differently if he'd reached out instead.

I think part of it too is that I tend to watch the show with my mom which - since we live in different states - means watching it once by myself and then a second time with her. And I think it's the thought of watching every episode twice that got to me.

So a short list of plot important episodes is great since I can watch those few now, and then everything else again when I finally meet up with my mom.
