Okay, does anyone know what's going on?

My LJ f-list is fine. My journal? Not so much. And neither are some communities. I'm getting huge ads after every single entry. And it's the same ad - so on my journal I have the usual ads (mine is set to horizontal at the top), plus about ten others. And these others are either all the same ad, or just blank white boxes.

Is LJ just messing up? Have my settings cocked up? I've had it for two days now.

If you don't mind jettisoning a few icons you could turn your account type down to Basic? That might get rid of them.

I don't mind lack of icons, but I don't think my journal + header are available with a Basic. I don't want to have to change my layout :(

I use ad-block on firefox so I can't say if I've noticed, plus I have a basic account.

I've never used adblock (probably never will), and use Internet Explorer. One of my friends said they had it for a few hours, then it just went. I'm really only complaining as it's started showing up in some comms as well as my journal :/

Just get Adblock. It will improve your computer experience immensely.

it will make websites load faster if you disable the ads, and you can enable them for whatever page you want to support if you'd like, and just block the really obnoxious ones

If you have a paid account, you shouldn't see any ads at all, and if you are, then you need to do a bug report.

I'm on Plus. I'm used to ads - they don't bother me normally. But 10+ on a page, when they're rather big and between every entry is really grating.

...I don't. I'm not sure how people can't manage to ignore them on their own, frankly.

Oh, people can - there's a lot of eye-tracking studies about how people's brains ignore internet ads, just as they ignore ads in newspapers and magazines - but I find adblock spares a lot of annoyance and makes most sites look nicer. I really don't like flickering things, and pop-ups are just awful for everyone involved, and adblock is so easy to install, so why go without it?

To be honest, I wouldn't know where to start to get one. Does IE8 even have one that works on it?

(Sorry, I couldn't help it. There may be one ad blocker that works, but not AdBlock, as far as I know; because... well... IE sucks)
