(Anonymous) 2013-01-04 01:12 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, exactly! I saw the dramatic paneling and thought: oh, this is supposed to be something dramatic and important, but, nope, not feeling anything.
Tom can be hit and miss sometimes, but thankfully he is mostly hit.
Like, Zimmy's anguished confession to Annie about Gamma? Hit.
Kat questioning her sexuality (and us seeing her possible robotic divinity)? Hit and hit.
Paz? Uh... I like her, and her awkwardness and earnestness is adorable, but she feels too much like a convenient plot device sometimes.
Jack's descent into madness and recuperation? Awesome.
Reynardine's arc? Heartbreaking.
Surma, and co's past? Defied my expectations (in a good way).
Jones? One of Tom's best chapters to date.
Coyote and Ysengrin's arcs? Holy shit awesome.
Annie trying to do who knows what to manipulate Jack into liking her and break his heart? WTF?
I didn't like how we missed a HUGE chunk of Annie's characterization during her stay at the forest. I like this new Annie as much as I liked traumatized and emotionally stunted Annie, but I feel like I don't know her any more and I can't help but think that we'll ever get to see that transition.
