...You know, writing something because you hate the rival ship is generally a pretty shitty reason to write. If for no other reason that it smacks of 'DOWN WITH THAT SHIP!' [in the corners of fandom I hang out in anyways.]

/shrug. It's not like I start wank or bash the ship in my fics. It's productive hate, at least.

It is kind of crappy, I agree, but if they're not blasting the other pairing in their fic or author's notes, most people probably won't even know that's the reason they write it. It seems more healthy than going after people who ship the other pairing and being jerks to them.
