I ship both (and always have, to some degree). I've been too busy reading Bilbo/Thorin fanfic to read any Kili/Fili, but I'll eventually get around to it.

Actors and directing can create far different chemistry than what was in the books, and sometimes you just have to go with it.

This happened to me with ASoiF, I totally ship Jamie/Cersei in the books but when it comes to the TV show... nothing. I Also kind of ship Dany/Jorah in the show but not even a little bit in the books, the way a relationship is presented and the chemistry can do a lot to sway my shipping preferences apparently. I totally ship both of the pairings you've mentioned though, ha.
