Agreed. This is a harmless interest and if it makes you happy you shouldn't be ashamed of it. However if you think people will give you trouble for it, just don't mention it.

There are 'good' and 'bad' fans of everything and people shouldn't make assumptions about that kind of thing, but it happens.

Hey anon, there are great postive spaces in this fandom as well, with non-batshit fans. I've made some incredible new friends thanks to the last year of 1D, and we're all functioning adults to boot! There's no shame in loving these five wonderful idiots.

<3 I'm glad you have them to make you happy. I have an adult friend in a similar situation, and however unconventional she may seem because she's in her thirties and attending concerts, I think it's fantastic. It brings her joy, and what other people think about 1D or her stanning of them doesn't matter as long as she's happy. I hope it's the same for you, OP, and that you fuck the haters and like what you want to like.

Most of the 1D fans are adults lol and unless you're a rabid fan then just relax. I'll admit that I have 3 1D songs in my top 10 plays and I ship Ziall (or Zayn with everyone), not even sorry about it. Never touched the fandom either. Enjoy it op :)

I feel pretty much the exact same as you, anon. Down to the awful year and them keeping me going.
I hope things get better for you soon and as for the fandom, I find that if you find a few relatively normal people to hang around, it's not so bad.

I recently heard a song on the radio that I really liked. Like I do when this happens, I memorized a few of the lyrics so I could google it when I got home and see what the song was and who sang it. To my dismay, it was a One Direction song. I am 31. I was so embarrassed.

But you know what? Who cares about the teenybopper fandom? It's a good song. I like it. You like what you like.
