Rants about idiot fans

I couldn't care less if you hate a movie/show/character/episode/storyline/idea/ship I like because you feel differently about it. Everyone's different and everyone reacts differently to the same thing, and an opinion about some inconsequential fandom thing is hardly something to be divided over.

But if you support your hate with canon "evidence" that is actively shallow, lazy, twisted, stereotyped, uncaring, uninterested, morally dissonant, or just plain wrong, I actually start to lose respect for you as a person.

Anytime I see someone saying "It's canon!" about a pairing that is decidedly not canon, I back away slowly. Especially when they start to provide evidence - even if it supports their head canon, it still doesn't make the pairing canon. People need to learn the difference.

(And I mean saying it's canon in a non-joking way, although even joking about it can get old.)
