(Anonymous) 2013-01-05 05:47 am (UTC)(link)I was fine with it at the time, but looking back on it that's pretty skeevy and just plain WRONG. Rape may be too strong a word, but I dont think OP needs to be called stupid for calling it that.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-05 06:09 am (UTC)(link)And I think OP is stupid for caling someing that isn't rape "rape".
If I had magic powers and I used them on you to clean up my room, would you tell people that I raped you? As in, I forced you to have sex with me? No, you wouldn't. You would tell people that I used magic to force you to do a chore you didn't want to do.
Using "rape" in any other context than "forcing someone to perform a sexual act against their will" is stupid. Please look it up in a dictionary if you don't believe me that "rape" can't be applied to things that have nothing to do with sexual activities.
And yes, the word "mindrape" might get used, just like "mindfuck", but both has very little to do with actual rape or even consensual fucking.
Using rape out of context just waters down the actual word and that is incredibly harmful to victims and future victims.
In conclusion: yes, OP acted stupid.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-05 06:25 am (UTC)(link)And, well, if you forced me to pick up my room? Maybe not. If you forced me to allow outsiders to traipse all over my bedroom and do whatever they wanted within my inner sanctum while I was made to like it, magically or telepathically, not via my own volition? I say yes, it IS as bad. You are violating my personal safe space instead of my body, but both are sanctuaries to me and in either case you abused power to violate me.

(Anonymous) 2013-01-05 07:19 am (UTC)(link)Actually, if you want to get technical about it there are 3 general definitions of rape: A member of the mustard family [plant], an act or instance of robbing or despoiling or carrying away a person by force [not specifically a sexual act, though that can fall under 'despoiling'], and unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against the will usually of a female or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent.
So yes. You can, technically apply the term 'rape' to things other than a specific type of sexual assault. Not that I think what the OP is talking about here falls under any of the definitions, but eh.
And, for the record, I got all of those from a dictionary [webster's to be exact.]

(Anonymous) 2013-01-06 02:44 am (UTC)(link)The scene creeped me out for a good 10 minutes. If the scene hadn't thankfully switched away I don't know what I would have done. Everyone in the theater laughed as a character magically perpetuated an unwanted personality change on another person.
Who then THANKED him for it afterwards. In other words, Bunny liked that Jack changed him without asking.
Am I over-reacting? Possibly. Probably.
But it's still creepy as fuck, and a violation of trust. Making me clean my bedroom is not the same as fundamentally changing who I am at this moment. I stand by "mental rape".
