Oh, I hadn't considered that OP might mean that the Dwarves would have a problem with their prince being with someone of another race. But I think there's a plausible (but not iron-clad) case to be made for the idea that if Dwarves were attracted to people of other races at all, they might be more attracted to the men of other races than the women. It seems like most of them shouldn't find feminine appearances attractive.

I think that they could, but at the same time wasn't Gimli attracted to Galadriel? If so that would suggest that Dwarves are attracted to non-dwarven females as well as dwarven females.

Either way, even if they had no problems with homosexual relationships or cross-species relationships in general, the fact that it's Thorin would probably raise a few issues. If nothing else, it's made fairly obvious that leadership is passed down through a family, so the fact Thorin is in a relationship that couldn't provide a child of any sort would probably be enough to make some of the dwarves uncomfortable.

Well, it would suggest that ONE dwarf was attracted to femininity. After all, Gimli and Legolas went on to have essentially a marriage. They spent the rest of their lives together, neither married. ;)

Eh, I can think of a few people I know in real life who have a similar set up who'd actually take offense to the suggestion that living together for the rest of your life = marriage, instead of a number of things it could be up to and including what is simply a strong friendship.

And either way, that wasn't what we were talking about? I was under the impression it was about if all the dwarves would be okay with *Thorin* being in a relationship with Bilbo.

I was under the impression this was a loose, fun discussion. Why so serious?
