Did you see the once-over Thorin gave Bilbo in bag end? The fangirl part of me says there was definitely some casual interest even back then, even if Thorin immediately told himself, "No, and you're crazy". And there were a few moments during the movie were he seemed amused by Bilbo's actions, not altogether in a harsh way. Those were a lot more subtle than when he was being all, "Bilbo, you suck and shouldn't be here."

So yea, I think there was a little denial about the fact that he was growing fond of Bilbo, even if at the time he still didn't believe that bringing Bilbo along was a good idea. Despite his words he didn't look too happy at the thought of Bilbo leaving, but he also seemed unsure of if he should act, so he didn't.

And when Bilbo gives that speech before the end, about wanting to help them get their home back? Thorin's eyes, man.

...Or I'm just exaggerating. But seriously, he does look like he realizes, "Oh, I like this halfling" during that scene. >.>

Haha, I used to do that with prompts. I still do when I have enough of them, but otherwise I just email the prompts to myself for safe keeping and easy access.

You should prompt! Then give me the link, because I've been wanting a fic dealing with Thorin's gradual falling for Bilbo and the inevitable realization since the movie came out. There are some similar to that, but the ones that do have gradual relationship building and the like usually take place after the first movie, and I'd really like something set in the first.
